Empire
Occupied Territory, Intertwined Histories
The British Identity is inescapably bound to the concept of Empire which continues to shape our prejudices and attitudes in East-West relationships. The memorials erected at home and on foreign soil stand as a painful reminder of personal loss. A double-edged sword of reverence vs political gain.
Yet the suffering of nations at the hands of our Colonial Power remains obscured behind a veiled screen. When will we begin to question our role as Coloniser?
